Emma May Innis-Weisseneder
Emma May Innis-Weisseneder, a native of Saint John and the Immediate Past President of the Saint John Art Club, is an artist who works in various mediums, although her first love is water-colour. As an avid gardener, her love of flowers and the natural world has been translated to canvas and paper. She has studied under such notable artists as Hertzl Kashetsky, Molly Lamb Bobak, Tom Forrestall and Jack Reid.
Emma May has studied the techniques of various mediums at the Sunbury Shores Art and Nature Centre in St. Andrews for several years, most recently Printmaking under Master Printer Robert Von de Peer. She has exhibited at the Aiken Bicentennial Centre, the University of New Brunswick in Saint John and the Imperial Theatre and other local and Provincial shows and received several awards. Her works are found in collections in Canada, the United States, Great Britain and Austria.
Emma May taught art in the Enrichment Program at local schools for several years and at Straw Flower Farm on Darling's Island. She holds classes for children at her home Maple Terrace in Rothesay. She serves on the Board of Directors of the Saint John Art Club; is chairperson of the Special Events Committee and the Editor of the Newsletter.
Emma May was born near Saint John and graduated from the Saint John High School, the Saint John General Hospital School of Nursing and Dalhousie University. Her professional career includes therapeutic counseling and health teaching. She is married to Kurt John Weisseneder and has one daughter Ingrid Mae, son-in-law Peter, and grandson Cameron John.
