Linda Denton

ABOUT THE ARTIST Linda Denton resides in Quispamsis with husband of 30 years, Charlie, and their five-year old soft -coated wheaten terrier Misty. In l975 Linda joined Tri-Chem Hobby crafts, learning to paint on fabric, velvet, wood and glass and started the journey into painting and hobby crafts. She became an instructor teaching various painting techniques through this home party plan based company. Studied painting with acrylics and painting monotypes with Hampton artist Elizabeth Cameron in 2002 and launched a new hobby painting on canvas.

Attended workshops in the summer of 2003 studying oil painting techniques with international artist and teacher Henry Vyfyinkel, a Professor of Fine Arts from St. Lawrence College in Brockville, Canada. As a result, she became totally hooked on oil painting. There she met Dorina Gates started taking weekly classes with Dorina and several other local artists in the fall of 2003. This last 2 years focusing on watercolor techniques attended a 3-week training course in 2004 with Henry Vyfyinkel. Also attended Old Master's Style painting course with 5 other artists and Henry, as an extra course in the summer of 2004. In the fall of 2004 attended painting classes at St. Paul's in Rothesay, under the guidance of local artist Les Ralston. Fall 2005 took 2-week course from Henry in painting with watercolor. Summer 2006 attended a 2-week workshop on P. E. I. with American artist Mel Stabin aws, nws, attended workshops in watercolor in Nova Scotia in the fall 2006, and also attended two watercolor courses taught by Saint John artist, Charlene Barry. Her newest venture is into the world of encaustic painting with beeswax, dammar varnish and pigments an art form that has been around for 3,000 years and is having a resurgence of popularity. Linda has a large garden and enjoys painting flowers, nature, and scenery and has also painted several people's pets, including a raccoon!

I love the place where I am right now in my life and for the last seven years have painted nearly everyday. I love the fact that what I put on canvas can touch the hearts and capture the imaginations of the viewer.''
