Wilhelmina Knappic
Born in Amsterdam, Holland, Wilhelmina arrived in Canada in 1952 with her husband Angelo Knappic. Wilhelmina comes from an artistic family. Her father was a director in the Arts and also a marionette maker. One brother had a gallery with African Arts in Amersterdam while another brother was the advertising designer of a baby food factory, "The Liga" in Holland.
Wilhelmina loves crafts and does some painting on her own. She had no lessons besides the normal art class in high school. Mary Cormier introduced her to the Saint John Art Club about 20 years ago and now manages the SJAC Gallery at Market Square. Wilhelmina also knits dolls which are sold at the famed Saint John City Market.
